Our Review Methodology

Every Pikcee review follows the same process. This page explains how we select products, what sources we use, and how ratings are assigned. We publish it so you can judge for yourself whether our reviews deserve your trust.

1. Product selection

We prioritise products that meet at least three of the following criteria:

  • Currently in stock and listed on a major retailer (Amazon, eBay, or AliExpress).
  • Has meaningful customer review volume (generally 50+ ratings).
  • Falls within a price bracket that represents reasonable value for its category.
  • Is not a short-lived or counterfeit listing.

We do not accept payment, free product, or any other incentive in exchange for review inclusion.

2. Research sources

Each review is built from a combination of:

  • Manufacturer specification sheets and product documentation.
  • The retailer’s own product listing (description, specs, Q&A).
  • Independent customer reviews across Amazon, eBay, Reddit, and specialist forums.
  • Expert editorial coverage on established review sites where available.

We never invent specifications. If a spec is uncertain or unverified, we leave it out rather than guess.

3. What’s in every review

  • Design and Build Quality — materials, dimensions, finish.
  • Performance and Features — how the product actually performs in its intended use.
  • Value for Money — what you’re getting relative to the price bracket.
  • Alternatives — 2–3 comparable products at similar price points.
  • Pros and Cons — an honest, specific list.
  • Specifications — verified key specs only.
  • Final Verdict — rating out of 10 and a bottom-line recommendation.

4. How ratings work

Our ratings reflect how the product compares to alternatives in its own price bracket, not to the entire market. A 9/10 budget headphone and a 9/10 flagship headphone are both excellent for what they are — they are not the same product.

  • 9–10 — Exceptional. Best-in-class for its price point.
  • 7–8 — Very good. A solid recommendation with minor trade-offs.
  • 5–6 — Acceptable. Worth considering only if on sale or if specific features matter to you.
  • Below 5 — Not recommended. We rarely publish reviews in this range because we don’t waste your time on products we wouldn’t suggest.

5. Corrections

Products change. Prices move. Stock disappears. If you spot something outdated or incorrect in a review, please email will773@live.com and we’ll investigate and update the review.

  • Accept products or payment in exchange for favourable coverage.
